Our Story

Hya Wellness operates from the picturesque town of Wanaka, just an hour north of Queenstown on the South Island of New Zealand.

Lead facilitators Tiarna and Michael are experienced and trusted breathwork practitioners who have guided hundreds of individuals through transformative breathwork and meditation sessions.

The aim is to bridge the gap between beginners and experienced individuals in the wellness space, providing opportunities for people to try breathwork, cold water immersion, or meditation for the first time and experience the physical and mental benefits these practices offer.

Our Goal

Hya Wellness was born from a dream of creating a space for people to connect, grow, and come together in Wanaka, fostering a sense of community among like-minded individuals.

Michael is dedicated to helping individuals lead happier and healthier lives. He earned his psychology degree in 2018 in Melbourne, Australia, and furthered his expertise in holistic practices by becoming a certified breathwork practitioner with Cool 2Be Conscious in 2022.

Tiarna has always had a deep connection to Mother Nature. In her spare time, she can often be found foraging for local ingredients to create natural tinctures or breathing in the pristine mountain air. Tiarna is studying to become a naturopath and loves integrating her growing knowledge to assist others in their wellness journeys.

  • What is Breathwork?

    Breathwork consists of consciously breathing in a certain pattern to achieve either a state of relaxation or a state of alertness. Most common breathwork patterns are for relaxation, but we can offer tailored solutions depending on your individual needs or desire.

  • Why should I be doing it?

    Most people are highly stressed or in their fight or flight response continuously. We know scientifically that being in this state for a long duration of time has some nasty side effects. Breathwork can & does bring you out of that stressed state and brings you down to the "rest & digest" which is where you want to be.

  • Is stress actually that bad?

    Stress is great for short periods, but being in a stressed "fight for flight" response for long periods can cause numerous issues. With the increase of cortisol, the body's inflammatory system goes into overdrive and that's where disease, sickness and fatigue come into it. That's where breathwork & stress management comes in to help!
